Lunch out

Lunch is usually the only meal we can all eat together. To mix it up and make it more fun, sometimes we'll head down to the water and the indoor/outdoor cafe that Fairway offers -- their French Toast is a surprisingly delicious and inexpensive brunch. It's a local secret, so don't tell anyone. Behind Jack, you can see the old-fashioned trolley car on display that used to run down here to the end of the pier.

We also have fun taking a lunchtime shopping trip at the local Ikea, and always appreciate their kid-friendly atmosphere: play area in the cafeteria (they're too little for the fun drop-off play area downstairs), tiny portions of yummy kid staples like mac & cheese and applesauce, and an interactive toy department for after lunch. Prices are right at Ikea, too -- can't beat it (although assembling your own furniture takes a bit of the shine off the low price.)
