Inspired by the Montessori "Practical Life" toddler activity of sponge squeezing, I bought some cellulose sponges for the boys. We poured a little water into their play sink, and I showed them how to soak up the water and then squeeze it out. They liked it, and played for a while at the sink. After Jack moved on to something else, Aidan took both sponges and began to wipe the toy table and then the floor underneath the table. He loves to clean, and has his own little brooms, dustpan and (pretend) vacuum...we do valuable work on the concept of "taking turns" anytime Jack wants to use Aidan's precious housekeeping supplies. He's good at sharing, but gets a little protective of those things.
