Watching the ducks in late afternoon

Aidan is still not feeling completely better, but we've been inside for days and it was time to let the boys get some fresh air. Here they watch the ducks (loons, actually -- but they know the word "ducks") go tail-up in search of dinner near a little rocky beach. This very sweet garden, with beautiful plants, flowers and pathways in the summer, is right next to our local grocery store. We visited often during the summer to watch giant bumblebees go from bloom to bloom.

The little guys loved watching the ducks, but I could only snap these two quick photos, because Aidan kept trying to toddle off toward the little pier behind us. Both boys are walking now, and the changes just keep coming. Aidan said his first real word (other than Mama) in a diner on Sunday: "banana". He LOVES bananas, and we ordered one sliced up for them to share. Jack is very close to saying "dog" and we're betting that will be his first word. The boy surely does love dogs. And now that he can walk, no dog is safe for long from his affections...
