The sprinklers were turned on at Cabrini Park today! They weren't dressed for it, but I couldn't deny them this real NYC childhood experience. The boys were amazed and a little nervous. Jack couldn't hold back: he plunged right in, stood under the water...and started to cry. I don't think he realized the water would be quite so real. He recovered quickly and went in a few more times. Aidan was a little more cautious, and a lot less wet. They both had fun, though, and we ended the afternoon with another New York summer tradition: Mr. Softee. Mmmm...a vanilla soft-serve cone with sprinkles. Here they are in the stroller, squinting into the sun and asking for another bite. To me, they look very much like little boys and not very much like babies in this photo, and it somehow makes me feel sad...
