Out for a spin

We took the boys for a long walk/ride/push on their tricycles this weekend, through Coffey Park and up & down Van Brunt, the main drag in Red Hook. Jack really enjoyed the beginning of the walk; so much more of the world to see and try to touch, but he seemed a little motion-sick when we got back to the yard. Aidan could not get enough of riding the trike. He bounced in his seat and kicked his little legs the entire time, and he burst into tears when it was time to get off and go inside. Here they are, about to cross the street and looking like they're watching for traffic. And then lining up in the yard before it's time to say "bye-bye" to the trikes until next time.

Also, a few new developments: Jack began waving "hello" a few days ago, and now waves "bye-bye", too...he likes to wave, and he especially likes to be noticed and praised for it...he grins and waves harder. Aidan is just starting to wave occasionally. AND: Aidan's taking steps on his own now.

He took his first steps Sunday morning, then followed it up by walking (lurching, really, but it still counts) back and forth several times between Deb and I this morning. I lose the bet: Deb said he'd be walking by their birthday, and I was convinced it couldn't happen so fast...wishful thinking.

  1. What great gifts! Have you figured out a way to use them during the week w/out help?
