The first "beach day" of the season. As soon as they woke up, the boys were bouncing around saying "Beach day! Beach day! Jump in water! Splash you!"
We drove an hour to a lovely, clean beach. We found a nice spot close to the lifeguards (just in case), set up and walked down to the water. The boys took in the sight of actual ocean and crashing surf.
So, these photos are of their lovely beach day, spent happily digging in the sand, shaded from the bright sun and shielded from the view of the ocean by a handy pop-up tent. The two of us took turns venturing out to the water or for a walk down the beach. The boys stayed put, enjoying their snacks and their digging and their safe distance from the waves. After about three hours, we packed up, rinsed off and stopped for ice cream at the refreshment shack (always Jack's favorite part of any outing -- vanilla ice cream).
"Nice here," Aidan said as we crossed barefoot to the parking lot.
"Go beach again."
