Treasure basket

Every morning, after playtime and cuddling and breakfast and cleanup and getting dressed, the boys watch the last 10 minutes of Sesame Street (if we're in time to catch it) because Jack loves Elmo. He loves Elmo so much. Aidan...eh: Elmo he can take or leave...Aidan just wants to crawl, stand, and cruise. He's a boy on a mission to move. But Jack loves Elmo, Beau the Dog and Mama (probably in that order...) Anyway, then it's time to play with the "treasure basket". It's a Montessori concept (a quick explanation is here) that gives them the opportunity to investigate regular household objects with different textures, tastes, smells, etc. than the toys they usually play with. They love this basket, and every week or so I put in something new and take out something that's become old hat. They look a little sleepy here, because right after treasure-basket-time comes naptime.
