Last weekend we loaded up the wagon with babies, moms, blankies, duffel bags, toys, assorted diapering and feeding paraphenalia and one very senior red dog, and headed down to Virginia for a visit with Great-Uncle Donald and Great-Aunt Angela. Their home is lovely and the mountain view is just beautiful, but the beagles -- Bonnie and Joy -- were the stars of the weekend! They scampered all around, and were sweet to the boys and fine with our old Abby. Jack & Aidan made themselves right at home (after a dramatic "We're overtired but can't fall asleep" crying jag), and seemed happy with the change of scenery. Annette was so nice to drive four hours roundtrip just to meet the little gremlins, and you can see Jack contendedly lounging in her arms. Jack was the social butterfly of the pair, equally happy with anyone that wanted to give him attention; Aidan was feeling a bit sensitive about meeting new people. He did spend quality time with Angela, though, and she gave us invaluable tips for helping his physical development along. It was a wonderful weekend, very relaxing for us (maybe less relaxing for the kind relatives on whose peaceful home we descended) and we had a beautiful, sunny drive home.
