Both feet off the ground

So...preschool. It's proving to be a somewhat difficult transition. It is only for two afternoons a week, and it's a warm & nurturing environment, filled with lots of things to do (they like this aspect, at least) and lots of other kids to play with (not compelling. they couldn't care less). We know that, eventually, the boys will run in on their own, excited to be there and full of things to tell their teachers and their friends. Eventually.
For now, we'll take the small victories: Aidan agreed to go to snack time today, and he drew a picture with Lori, his favorite teacher. Jack was able to wander intermittently out of Carol's office (aka "The Crying Place", complete with comfy couch and special toys to soothe distraught little ones missing Mama). He touched a snail at the Nature Table. Both boys made it to, and through, the end-of-day puppet show.
It's a big step for them, and they sense it. They feel angry (Aidan shows it, Jack tries not to) and sad (Jack shows it, Aidan tries not to). But they've already started to assert a little more independence. Here they're swinging on the big swings at the playground, having rejected my suggestion of the little kid swings...
